MEND Kids - we're all in this together!
Do you feel sad because of your weight?
Being overweight can be really depressing and boring. It is not much fun when the other kids can always run faster, or when they call you horrible names. Parents can be a drag too, always telling you what you should and shouldn't eat.
MEND can change all that!
MEND teaches you how different foods work in your body and also shows you how to eat foods that trick your body into burning fat! We also play a whole load of fun-filled games and activities, which will make you feel fit and strong.
All MEND families work together as a team
Your parents also come along, but - don't worry - we promise they won't spoil the fun! We make sure that the whole family works together as a team to get healthier and fitter!
What will be expected of me?
You and your parents will be asked to attend 20 sessions over 10 weeks - typically twice a week with a short break in the middle for half-term. Remember, all the other kids on the programme are in exactly the same position as you, so you won’t feel embarrassed or nervous.
The great things that you will get to do!
- Go on a special guided supermarket tour to try foods that you will never have seen before
- Play in the pool and be the first one to reach the sunken treasure
- Choose different goals and rewards - whether it is staying up late or receiving extra pocket money!
- Attend a MEND food fest and taste a variety of delicious meals prepared by you and your classmates
- Receive a special personalised poster that will remind you of all the good things about you
- Attend a final session where your class will get to choose a group reward
