What is the MEND 5-7 Programme?

Developed by experts in child health, the MEND 5-7 Programme is our course for parents or carers with children aged between five and seven. It helps families with children who are above the healthy weight range for their age and height learn how to lead healthier lifestyles.

The Programme incorporates ten weekly sessions, each lasting 1 hour 45 minutes and combining active play, parent discussion groups and family workshops. They take place after school at community venues, schools and leisure centres.

Our active play sessions will give you ideas and tips for games to play with your child, to encourage them to have fun and keep moving. As well as helping to improve agility, balance and co-ordination, we also work on building their confidence. The course will help your family make gradual changes to the food you eat and the exercise you take so you can feel fitter, healthier and happier – for good.

The Programme is valuable but offered FREE to families to ensure that nobody misses out on this life-changing experience.

You can register your interest for current and future MEND 5-7 Programmes now and we’ll get back to you when one starts in your area. Do contact us if you have any questions.

All of our MEND Programmes are run by local teams employed by local and national organisations. If you are interested in finding out more about how to run a Programme in your area, please click here.
