Simon and Lauren’s story

Lauren wasn't eating unhealthy food but the amount she ate and her lack of exercise and activity meant that she was living in a distinctly unhealthy manner.

Lauren, 7, and her father, Simon, joined the MEND Programme and were both pleasantly surprised by the simple but effective sessions.  They never thought they would have so much fun learning about healthy living.
“Although the type of food we eat hasn't changed, Lauren is more aware of how much she eats” says Simon.  “The things we learnt about portion control mean that we now eat more balanced meals and Lauren tends to make better decisions about what she wants to eat and how much.”
Lauren is now much more active - she goes swimming twice a week and has even joined a football team.  Lauren was already a confident young girl but the MEND Programme has given her a little more support, which has helped to increase that confidence and self-esteem.
The MEND Programme has not only helped Lauren - the whole family has benefited from learning about healthy living. They now read food labels and consider themselves to be better informed about food and healthier choices.
Thanks to the MEND Programme, Lauren has become, fitter and healthier and generally feels much better about herself and her lifestyle. The family has even put up posters in their shop to show their support for MEND and encourage other families to consider joining.
