All MEND programme participants can become volunteer ambassadors if they want to. Our ambassadors are called MEND Champions - they tell others about their experiences with MEND and beyond, inspiring them to live fitter, healthier and happier lives.
What does a MEND Champion do?
It depends what they like and what they are good at. Champions receive training and a tool kit to prepare them for the role, providing them with key messages, campaigning ideas, support and resources to encourage others to make healthier life choices.
We have a range of resources for Champions to use if they want to develop their volunteering role and promote healthy lifestyles within their communities, including:
-
information to help prepare them to talk to local and national media
- event training so they can confidently attend events and talk to the public
- campaign resources and templates to encourage action at school or in the workplace
- leader training for Champions who wish to lead their local graduate group when their MEND programme has finished.
What else can a MEND Champion do?
They can also take part in our volunteer steering group, giving feedback that will help us develop and shape the ambassador scheme and our programmes.
