We can help you achieve your targets
MEND’s portfolio of services means that we can work with delivery partners at any level. As well as offering targeted primary prevention (Mini-MEND) and secondary prevention and treatment (MEND Programme) interventions, we can train local staff in obesity management and provide health and wellbeing education for the broader population.

In the UK, MEND services address health inequalities and are aligned to National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines. They deliver the policy objectives of the Every Child Matters: Change for Children initiative and the 2008 cross-Government obesity strategy for England, Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives as well as contributing to Public Service Agreement Targets 12 (Improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people), 18 (Promote better health and wellbeing for all), 21 (Build more cohesive, empowered and active communities) and 22 (Deliver a successful Olympic Games and Paralympic Games with a sustainable legacy and get more children and young people taking part in high quality PE and sport). They also help local organisations achieve Local Area Agreement targets NI 55 (Incidence of child obesity in primary school reception year) and NI 56 (Incidence of child obesity in primary year 6).
Delivering MEND Programmes has positive implications for meeting Healthy Schools and Extended Schools criteria. MEND's programmes are also a catalyst for partnership working. The MEND Programme conforms to the draft commissioning guidelines drawn up by the UK's Cross-Government Obesity Unit.
MEND’s Programmes and training can be quickly and successfully integrated into local obesity care pathways: many PCTs have implemented them as part of their referral system, following height and weight measurements in reception year and year six as part of the National Child Measurement Programme.
