Who should run a MEND or Mini-MEND Programme?

MEND and Mini-MEND is an integrated, community-based, intervention programme, incorporating the 3 elements of Mind, Exercise and Nutrition

There are two ways you can run a MEND programme, depending on your resources, skills and priorities:

- Running or assisting in a Programme directly in your local community

- Sponsoring MEND Programmes, either financially or via in-kind contributions e.g. people, leisure centre time.  Sponsored Programmes will often focus on children from socially or economically deprived areas.

MEND is suitable for any trainer or organisation passionate about combating obesity in their community.  However, some organisations will not have the full set of people, skills and resources needed to run a complete programme.  In such cases, it may be beneficial to work with other local partners to run/sponsoring a MEND Programme. We would be happy to speak with you about ways that others have mutually cooperated with one another in this respect.

MEND can make things easier for you!

Wherever possible and appropriate, MEND will help you set-up and run a Programme, including matching you with other interested people or organisations in your area.  We would also be delighted to discuss ways that MEND can be incorporated into your obesity strategy (if you are a PCT, Local Authority, Leisure Trust or other community organization) or your marketing or corporate social responsibility strategy (if you are a company).
